Treasure Island Casino Hotel

The Buffalo Tower, one of three towers in Treasure Island Resort & Casino’s 788-room hotel (the second-largest hotel in the state of Minnesota), recently underwent a comprehensive remodeling of its guest rooms.
This included an upgrade to a Corning Passive Optical Network (PON) system. This modern network infrastructure allows for the placement of Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) in the hallways adjacent to the doors of four rooms. By utilizing just two small fiber optic cables, ECSI efficiently served four guest rooms, a task that would have traditionally required twelve standard category 6 cables. One of the primary challenges we faced was the limited space available for cable pathways in the hallways. The PON solution effectively addressed this issue by using a single fiber optic cable capable of supporting up to eight data connections.
