Hennepin County Youth Stabilization Center
PROJECT OVERVIEW
This new facility provides a long-term, secure, and rehabilitative environment for youth in need of behavioral and mental health support.
Hunt Electric delivered design-assist electrical construction and ECSI System Integrators provided a complete low voltage cabling system in support of the fire alarm, security, automatic doors, and network cabling for Wi-Fi.
UNIQUE ELEMENTS
Wherever possible, anti-ligature and anti-vandalism devices were incorporated into the design to create a secure environment prioritizing youth wellbeing.
Anti-ligature considerations: Special covers were installed over fire alarm notification devices and smoke detectors to protect youth safety.
Anti-vandalism devices: Anti-vandal card readers were deployed throughout the facility to ensure system integrity and longevity.

CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS:
- Aggressive Schedule: The project schedule was very tight, which required detailed planning and coordination between all the trades.
- Multiple Tenants: The Youth Stabilization Center added a new tenant to the building. This required working with multiple Hennepin County vendors to coordinate IT and security services to provide seamless functionality between the two tenants’ systems.
- Design Changes: Flexibility of the ECSI team enabled us to quickly adapt to changes in the design or provide additional services that required immediate attention.
